On tuesday, july 17, 2007, the colorado springs police department received a report of a shooting in the 800 block of chapman drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22 year old jamil salaam. Mr. Salaam was standing outside in the parking lot of the pine creek village apartments with another person when they were approached by three individuals. There was a brief confrontation that led to multiple shots being fired. The three suspects then fled the scene. A witness described the suspects as being african american and hispanic males.
