On thursday, december 18, 1975, the colorado springs police department was notified of an apparently deceased male in a vehicle stopped along I-25 near the arvada street exit. Upon arriving, officers found 28 year old donald r. Laabs, deceased from gunshot wounds. Donald robert laabs, was a sergeant with the manitou springs police department. Dozens of persons associated with sergeant laabs, both personally and professionally, were interviewed over the next several months; however no viable suspect(s) were identified.
