On june 14, 2001, 22 year old raymond chappell had just pulled into a business located on the 9600 block of east alameda avenue. Raymond was confronted by an unknown suspect who produced a gun and demanded that raymond get out of his vehicle. The suspect then shot raymond along with the female companion that was also inside the vehicle. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in raymond's vehicle. The female victim survived her injuries but raymond was taken to a hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
