On the morning of january 7, 1983 members of the denver police department were called to the area of east 35th avenue and gilpin street on a report of a possible dead body. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, subsequently identified as yolanda barrera, in a nearby church parking lot. Based on the extent of the victim's injuries, this case was ruled as a homicide.
