At 8:30 am, north precinct officers were dispatched to a report of two firefighters shot at fire station # 9.Officers arrived on the scene when they learned two firefighters had been shot inside fire station # 9.Birmingham fire and rescue (bfr) personnel transported the two injured firefighters to a local area hospital. They both suffered serious injuries.One of the firefighters, jordan melton, succumbed to his injuries on monday, july 17, 2023.The preliminary investigation has revealed that an unknown suspect(s) shot the two firefighters while they were inside fire station # 9.
