On may 19, 1976 jarl hoffman, an inmate at the camp george west camp, was playing a game of billiards in the recreation building with other inmates. While inside the building hoffman was shot by someone from outside, near old golden road. A vehicle was seen speeding away. Nearby, five dogs were shot, two other dogs shot at, and other gunshots were fired within a few hours before and after homicide. Witnesses indicated more than one person was in the vehicle involved in the shootings.
