On sunday, august 20, 1989, the body of an unidentified african-american female was discovered in the bed of a 1972 ford courier pickup. This vehicle appeared abandoned and was parked on ne ivy street, just east of martin luther king junior boulevard. The body was in a state of decomposition. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. As a result of the autopsy, the body was identified as althene hines, a 43-year-old african-american female. Ms. Hines lived in the 5000 block of ne 23rd avenue and was last seen alive on thursday, august 17, 1989, three days prior to the discovery of her body. Investigators at the time believed that ms. Hines was not killed at the location where her body was found. They suspect she was murdered somewhere else then transported, probably in a vehicle, to the ford courier pickup.Agency
