On the evening of october 19, 1979, 14 year old melvin pooley jr. Left his southwest denver home to visit a friend. Melvin did not return home that night and a missing persons report was filed with the police department. A few months later, a passerby noticed a body floating in the south platte river near west yale avenue and notified authorities. The body was subsequently identified as melvin pooley jr. Due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding melvin's death, this case was investigated as a homicide.
