On april 22, 1994, a witness traveling westbound on interstate 8 noticed a fire south of the freeway near arnold way in alpine. The witness saw a vehicle driving away from the location, heading north on arnold way. The witness exited the freeway and drove to the location of the fire. When the witness arrived at the location he noticed what he believed was a mannequin on fire in the roadway. When the fire was extinguished they discovered it was the remains of an unidentified adult male. The victim remained unidentified until december 2006. Cause of death was due to gunshot wounds.
