On october 28, 1996, the skeletal remains of an unknown female were found in the 800 block of east 54th avenue. The cause and manner of death is unknown. However, the skeletal remains show indications of bindings. The identity of the victim was determined to be leonila tara cortez-rodriguez. Ms. Cortez-rodriguez was last seen in august 1996 leaving the parking lot of gigi's bar located at 1452 uinta street, in a large white or yellow 4 door, possibly an oldsmobile.
