On june 4th, 1999 at 7:11 a.M. The wyandot county sheriff's office received a 911 call from the victim's husband, michael steele, stating that he believed his wife's car was badly burned and against a tree along side the roadway a short distance from their residence. Upon deputies arrival and subsequent investigation, the remains of the victim were found burned in the front seat of her car. An autopsy was unable to determine the exact cause of death due to the extreme heat of the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be arson and the death ruled a homicide. The scene had been staged to give the appearance of a traffic crash.
