On march 3, 1996, james underwood, a 49 year-old white male, was found by a transient lying face down in an area adjacent to the interstate fred meyer near the 7300 block of n. Montana ave. An autopsy found that mr. Underwood had died of multiple stab wounds. Mr. Underwood was a transient who frequented the areas of n. Denver and n. Columbia ave. Mr. Underwood worked at the palms motel on n. Interstate cleaning rooms and doing odd jobs. He was reported to be, at times, combative while frequently drinking alcohol. Anonymous letters have been sent to the police regarding this homicide. Investigators would like to speak to the author of these letters in order to corroborate the information provided.
