On january 6, 1997 the denver police department responded to a welfare check on 77 year old margarito gomez, the owner/resident of a multi-dwelling home located on the 2600 block of champa street. Mr. Gomez had not been seen for a few days, and after searching the residence, he was located inside the home deceased. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation.
