On september 28, 1976, members of the denver police department responded to the area of east 33rd avenue and cherry street to investigate a report of a male found inside of a vehicle deceased. During the initial investigation, it was determined that the victim, subsequently identified as forty-two year old benjamin chavez, had been shot to death.
