On july 5, 2002, 18 year old marlon horton and his three friends went to teen night at the denver night club called roxy, which was located near 25th and welton streets. As marlon and his friends were walking through the parking lot, a vehicle drove by them. It was at this point that an argument ensued between the occupants in the vehicle and marlon's group. Shortly thereafter, shots were fired from the vehicle towards marlon and his friends. One of the shots struck and killed marlon. A friend of marlon's was also shot, but survived his injuries.
