On the morning of february 9, 1983, a resident near the intersection of n hereford and lombard street discovered the victim lying naked in the parking lot of st. Andrew’s episcopal church. The victim, 25 year-old white male, elamari magdud, had died due to homicidal violence. His clothing had been scattered throughout the crime scene. Elamari was a university of portland student from libya who lived nearby. He was studying machine design. It was reported that those who knew elamari described him as having a drinking problem. Elamari magdud was last seen leaving the spinning wheel tavern at closing time that morning. There had been a large fight in the parking lot of the portsmouth club at approximately 1:00 am that night involving a large number of people.
