At approximately 7:45 p.M., west precinct officers were dispatched to 2121 19th street ensley (marathon gas station) on report of a shotspotter alert. Shortly after, a call came in on report of a male shot at the location. Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel transported the victim to uab hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was at the location when several suspects entered the victim’s vehicle while it was parked at the location and unoccupied. The suspects were in the course of stealing the victim’s vehicle when shots were fired at the victim fatally wounding him.
