On september 8, 2002, at about 2:37 a.M., officers responded to 205 ne russell street, on the report of a noise complaint. Upon arriving in the area, officers encountered a group of 300 people that had gathered in the area of ne russell and ne mlk. While trying to disperse the crowd officers heard shots coming from inside the group of people. After making their way through the crowd they found the victim, anthony duane brown, a 25-year-old african-american male, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Witnesses reported seeing an african- american male, in his twenties, with a stocky build, tight braids, wearing a blue button-down type shirt, near the victim at the time of the shooting. It is believed this subject could be the person who shot the victim or could have information regarding who may have been the shooter. The cold case unit would like anyone with information regarding this case to contact them.
