Early in the morning on june 22,1995, officers were called to the 500 block of ne ivy street at approximately 4:00 am after multiple reports of shots fired. Officers were unable to find anything amiss in the neighborhood. At approximately 7:30 in the morning, a neighbor observed the residence at 526 ne ivy st. To be riddled with bullet holes and called portland police. Officers responded, finding toyreia “toya” sonea martin, a 21-year old african-american woman, lying deceased in her bed. An autopsy was performed and ms. Martin’s cause of death was determined to be the result of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Toya martin was known to have a criminal record as well having affiliations with multiple gangs in the area. Investigators believe this to be gang-related.
