On sunday, july 19, 2009, at approximately 12:36 p.M., police officers responded to 813 nw 7th street #3 in the city of hallandale beach and discovered samuel cothran lying on the ground critically injured from a gunshot wound. Samuel later died at hollywood memorial hospital. The investigation revealed that several males were arguing outside of samuel's apartment. Witnesses stated two unknown black males dressed in dark clothing were observed attempting to pull the door open at samuel's apartment. A single loud bang consistent with that of a gunshot was then heard. Neighbors then observed samuel lying on the ground bleeding in front of his apartment door.
