On the morning of august 1, 1980, a friend of roger pierce was unable to contact him by phone and went to his house to check on him. Upon arriving at the house on the 2700 block of nw marshal street and seeing the front door open, mr. Pierce's friend entered to discover him deceased on the floor. Police concluded that mr. Pierce, a 58-year-old white man, had died as the result of homicidal violence. Roger pierce was reported to have been well-thought o,f but was known to be a heavy drinker. He has been described as quiet but also a “loner.” he was separated from his wife. He was last seen at the nobbie tavern near the intersection of nw 23rd and lovejoy at approximately 8:00 pm on july 30,
