On sunday, june 28, 2006, a combination block party and car show was taking place in the 500 block of frederick avenue, adjacent to walker avenue. At approximately 8:43 p.M., lvmpd dispatch received several 911 calls from citizens stating there were several people shooting into the hundreds of gathered partiers. Patrol units responded and witnessed mass hysteria as the several hundred citizens, attending the party, were fleeing in all directions. Eight victims were shot, all of which were transported by medical personnel with the exception of steven beck who died on the sidewalk in front of 513 frederick. Two victims, gemar samuel and tina robles died as a result of their gunshot wounds at the university medical center, trauma unit later that evening. The entire 500 block of frederick was cordoned off using crime scene tape. Homicide detectives and crime scene analysts respond to the scene to begin an investigation. Dozens of people were interviewed; to date none of the suspects have been identified.
