In the early morning hours of may 30, 1980, 41 year old verna wehrle was attacked by an unknown intruder within her north denver residence. During the assault, verna was able to escape from her residence and run for help. A neighbor called the police and verna was immediately transported to a local hospital. She died a few hours later from the brutal beating. Prior to her murder, verna wehrle was employed at the jolly rancher candy factory.
