On august 2, 1986, gregory smith and lafrant tyrone james were walking home after attending a party on monterey street. In the 200 block of s. Acme, a car with 4–6 hispanic males stopped at enid and pharis street. The males called out to gregory and lafrant "Hey, brothers." four shots then rang out from the car, with the passenger leaning out the window and firing over the car at the two victims. Both gregory and lafrant sustained gunshot wounds. Lafrant died at the scene, and gregory died later at wilford hall hospital. James was 22 at the time of his death, and smith was 20. The suspects were described as hispanic males, and the shooter wore blue jeans and a black muscle shirt. The suspect vehicle was a 1972–73 green lemans or monte carlo.
