Cause of Death

Info

On february 13, 2018 at approximately 7:50 p.M., lvmpd patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 200 block of west chicago avenue to investigate reports of a shooting in the area. Arriving officers located a male later identified as 35-year-old pedro rios, found lying on the stairs to his apartment in the 200 block of west new york avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced rios deceased at the scene. The investigation initiated by the lvmpd homicide section indicated several individuals were engaged in the shooting on chicago avenue. As the shooting began, rios exited his home on new york ave and was struck by a stray bullet. All the suspects involved in the shooting fled before officers arrived. No arrests have been made, but the motive for the shooting appears to be related to the sale of narcotics and rios’s death may have been unintentional.
