Wilbur jones resided in an apartment on the 6800 block of ne union avenue (now martin luther king, jr. Boulevard). On the early afternoon of june 16, 1975, the apartment manager knocked on mr. Jones’ door. When he did not answer, the manager entered the apartment to find mr. Jones deceased and the residence in disarray. Police responded and discovered that mr. Jones, a 58-year-old white male, had been beaten and died from traumatic neck injury. Wilbur jones was reported to have drunk excessively and was in poor general health. He required either a wheelchair or a walking cane in order to aid him walking. He was reported to have associated with known prostitutes. A neighbor reported seeing an unidentified african-american man at the door to his apartment at approximately 12:30 that morning. He has been described as being 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with medium-length black hair and a small mustache. He was reported to be wearing black trousers, black shoes, a black, wide-brimmed hat, and a suit coat length yellow leather jacket.Agency
