At approximately 8:31 p.M., a south precinct officer was dispatched to a disorderly person call in the 700 block of 34th street south, in the forest park community. A detailed description was given by the caller.Upon arrival, the officer encountered an adult male outside in the parking lot of an apartment building. The officer began speaking with the male while communicating to the 911 communications dispatcher, requesting more officers to the location. The altercation between the officer and the male quickly escalated. The officer fired his firearm, wounding the male.Birmingham fire and rescue services arrived on the scene and transported the male to uab hospital with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arrival, the male was pronounced deceased by uab hospital staff.Agency
