At approximately 7:45 pm, west precinct officers were dispatched to interstate 59 south just after the arkadelphia road on-ramp on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a white 2008 ford edge that had collided into the median. Officers observed the driver suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was traveling from the “downtown area” prior to the shooting. Detectives are asking if anyone was traveling along this route between 7:15 pm – 7:45 pm that has a dashcam to please contact us directly.Agency
