On december 12, 1980, colorado springs police officers were dispatched to apartments on south meade ave. In colorado springs, colorado. Officers found 61 year old mary margaret caldwell on the floor of her apartment. It was apparent that mary had been sexually assaulted. The crime scene investigation revealed that the suspect entered the second floor apartment through the balcony door. The el paso county coroner indicated that mary margaret caldwell's death was attributed to cardio pulmonary failure and it is possible that the sexual assault contributed to the sudden cardio pulmonary failure.
