On the evening of june 13th, 1981 officers from the denver police department responded to the surfco service station, which was located near the intersection of w. Mississippi avenue and south platte river drive, on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located james palcher just outside of the service station suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. During the follow-up investigation it was learned that james palcher was shot to death by an unknown suspect who confronted him inside the business. James palcher was an employee of surfco service station and was working at the time of his death.
