On march 28, 1981, officer kathleen garcia had finished some reports from her late shift at district one and then headed home. While sitting in her car in front of her residence, officer garcia was shot once in the head by an unknown assailant. She got out of her car, took a few steps and collapsed on the sidewalk. Officer garcia later died at denver general hospital from her wounds. Although an extensive investigation yielded a few suspects, the murder of officer garcia remains unsolved.
