On december 21, 2002 at approximately 12:50 am, mykel byars was at the 7-11 store at 16th street and southern. There was a large group of people gathered in the parking lot. Mykel was in the store with friends. When he went out to the parking lot, walking to his car, shots were fired. Mykel was struck by the gunshots and died of the injuries he received.
