On july 2, 1988, 32 year old thomas templeton, who also goes by the name "Chip", rented a room at the la vista motel located near holly street on east colfax avenue. Thomas rented the room under a different name and was seen checking in with a second male described as having reddish hair and a muscular build. Thomas was found strangled to death in his room. His vehicle was found a few days later at east 12th avenue and pearl street in the capitol hill neighborhood.
