On april 23rd, 1985, the decomposed remains of a human body were found during the excavation of the construction site of the marley station mall in glen burnie, md. The body was found in a metal trash container. Examinations revealed the remains were that of an unidentified white male in his mid 20’s, approx. 5’8” to 5’11” tall slim build with brown hair. He was wearing a blue and black sweater, slacks and leather shoes. It was estimated that the victim was deceased for a period of time. The unidentified male had trauma to his body with the manner being homicide.The anne arundel county police homicide/cold case unit has worked on this case for the last thirty four years in trying to positively identify the recovered remains. In the spring of 2019 utilizing the latest forensic technology the human remains were identified as roger hearne kelso. Investigation revealed roger kelso grew up in the 100 block of whip lane in glen burnie where he attended the glen burnie high school (class of 1961). In 1962/1963 roger kelso left his residence and was never seen or heard from again. Evidence identifies the time frame of roger kelso’s murder to likely be in the period of 1962/1963.
