On july 22, 1999, a janitor working at cherry park school at 1930 se 104th avenue observed the victim lying on the playground area at approximately 6:55 am. The victim, ram singh, a 16-year-old pacific islander male, was found to be deceased and the janitor called 911. An autopsy revealed that ram singh had died of a gunshot wound and was shot sometime the night before being discovered. Ram singh had attended several alternative schools in the portland area and was rumored to be associated with an area gang. It is rumored that the area in which ram singh was found was a frequent meeting place for area teenagers.
