On june 29, 1985, police officers went to martin and santa rosa after reports of an accident. When they arrived, they could not find any accident but did notice deputy adrian aguilar's vehicle in san pedro creek. Officers found adrian in the driver's seat. He was unconscious, bleeding from the mouth, and having trouble breathing. Adrian was taken to bamc, and died the next day. The medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy. Dr. Dimaio determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the back, and the manner of death to be homicide. At the time of his death, adrian was in his bexar county sheriff's department uniform, and was reporting back to the jail. He had originally been assigned to guard a prisoner at the hospital.
