On october 25, 2011, at approximately 9:30 a.M., two citizens were wind surfing at 6 mile cove, on lake mojave south of cottonwood cove, and saw a hispanic male and female lying on the beach. The citizens approached the couple and saw that the male and the female were seriously hurt and in need of assistance. The victims had walked near a subject while using their metal detector on the beach the previous evening, who shot both victims and left them for dead. The citizens called 911 and the national park service rangers arrived. The park rangers discovered that both subjects had been shot, and the female victim, identified as rosa castrejon, was deceased from her wounds. The male was airlifted to the university medical center where he underwent emergency surgery and survived. Lvmpd homicide detectives have completed a sketch of the suspect and flier with a photo of a vehicle similar to the vehicle the suspect was driving.
