On friday, march 26, 1971, employees of the alamo hotel became concerned about one of their long term residents when he did not show up for a social engagement. They checked his room and found 75 year old jean begin, deceased in his bed. Responding police officers noted that mr. Begin appeared to have been struck several times with a heavy object.
