On may 13, 1991 city workers discovered the body of security guard seymour rice in a utility shed on the cemetery's property. Investigation revealed rice had been murdered in the evening hours of may 12, 1991 and may have had a confrontation with the suspect prior to his death while walking to work. Rice and his family had recently moved to tallahassee where he found work as a security guard weeks prior to his death. A suspect has been identified and investigation is continuing.
