Shortly before midnight on august 31,1995, 36 year old louis mitchell was near lawson park off 24th & california streets, when he went to speak to an occupant of a vehicle that was also in the area of the park. During this time, mr. Mitchell was shot by an unknown suspect. Medical and police personnel were dispatched to the scene and mr. Mitchell was immediately transported to a local hospital where he died a few hours later from the gunshot wound he sustained. .
