On may 6, 1986, joseph murawski, a 79-year-old retired businessman, was located at 4066 ne grand ave apt #1 by the portland police. Mr murawski has been assaulted by two subjects. A neighbor became concerned by the actions of the suspects and called the police. When the police arrived, mr murawski told them that his house had been burglarized the day before. The two suspects had come to his house the next day and told him they would return his stolen items if he gave them $50. He gave them a down payment ,but refused to give them the rest of the money until he saw his property. They convinced him to come with them to the grand ave address to get his property. Once there, he was struck from behind and knocked to the floor. The suspects began kicking him while he was down and stole his belongings. They then ran off. Mr murawski described his assailants as #1 – male, african-american, late 20’s/early 30’s, 180 to 190 lbs, light complexion, moustache. #2 – female, african-american late 20’/early 30’s, 140 to 150 lbs, medium build, 1” long natural hair, medium complexion. Investigation revealed that mr murawski had been giving money to many different people in his neighborhood depending on the story he was given. As a result of the assault, mr murawshi was admitted to the hospital. While there, he suffered a brain hemorrhage, never regained consciousness and died approximately 8 weeks later. The medical examiner determined that his death was a result of the beating he received during the robbery at the grand ave address.
