On august 21, 2005, at 3:56 a.M.., officers responded to the intersection of sw park avenue and sw stark street, to the reports of an assault that had occurred. Upon arrival, the victim, jeffery william smith, a 41-year-old white male, was sitting on the curb and appeared to be bleeding from his face. Mr. Smith was conscious and appeared to be in stable condition. Mr. Smith was transported a local hospital for his injuries. Mr. Smith later died from the injuries he sustained in the assault. Witnesses said mr. Smith had stopped at the interaction of sw park and sw stark to talk to some individuals hanging out at that location. While mr. Smith was talking to the individuals, a white male crossed the street and walked up to mr. Smith and punched him in the face. The hit knocked mr. Smith to the ground and the suspect walked away. The suspect was described as a 24-30 year old white male, about 5’9” tall, with a muscular build.Agency
