Description: On September 29, 2024, in the morning hours, police responded to a disturbance in the 600 Block 3rd Avenue South and concluded in the area of 18th Avenue North and 3rd Street North. During this disturbance one person was shot and another assaulted. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody and currently being interviewed. All subjects involved have claimed to be homeless and there is no continued threat to the public. The investigation has revealed the disturbance turned violent when the suspect/defendant battered subject(s) in the area of the 800 Block Shetter Avenue. The disturbance continued to another nearby location where the defendant located his ex-girlfriend (another victim) and began assaulting her. Her current friend/partner (another victim) came to her aid and was then shot in the leg by the defendant. The defendant fled the area taking the female victim with him and was later found and taken into custody.
