Description: Other. On 07/04/24 at 12:40PM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center began receiving 911 calls from residents of an apartment building in the 4700 block of Rusina Road. The callers were reporting there being a fire in the building. When members of the Colorado Springs Police and Fire Departments arrived they observed smoke and flames coming from the balcony of a 4th floor apartment. Officer Shelby Johnson and Officer Samantha Lembergs from CSPD entered the apartment building at the request of the fire department and began building evacuations. CSFD investigators are on scene and CSFD is leading the investigation into the cause of the fire. There are no known injuries associated with the fire.
