Description: Arrest. In early 2024 detectives with the Strategic Investigations Unit (SIU) initiated multiple investigations into members of a local gang for numerous violent and firearms related crimes. Over the course of the investigation, probable cause was established to obtain search warrants for two separate residences related to these investigations. On 07/02/24 members of CSPDs Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) served a search warrant in the 2100 block of Delta Dr. That search warrant resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old male for a warrant for unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds. SIU and TEU then transitioned to the 1000 block of E Rio Grande St. to serve the second warrant. Prior to serving the warrant, a 14-year-old suspect in the investigation was observed exiting the residence and leaving on foot. When contact was made with the suspect, the suspect produced a handgun and ran from officers. During the short foot pursuit, the suspect threw the handgun into a yard and was apprehended a short distance away. The handgun was discovered to have been stolen during a burglary in 2023. The 15-year-old was booked into Zeb Pike Juvenile Detention Facility for his warrant and is facing new charges for multiple other investigations that include motor vehicle theft, menacing, protection order violations and handgun possession.The 14-year-old was booked into Zeb Pike Juvenile Detention Facility for motor vehicle theft, menacing and handgun possession.
