The victim has been identified as Derrick Lee Miller, DOB: 12/07/1970; his family has been notified of his death. Detectives have charged Marcus Darnell Turner, DOB: 12/26/1974, with Mr. Miller’s murder. Mr. Turner found his wife with Mr. Miller in a vehicle parked in the business park. Mr. Turner called 911 and advised that he shot Mr. Miller after finding the two together. Mr. Turner did not know Mr. Miller and had never seen him before this incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Osorio is the lead detective assigned to the case. Mr. Turner has been transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he will remain in their custody.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit and ADW Unit are conducting a homicide investigation at the 6700 block of Northpark Boulevard in the North Division. The call for service came in at 10:45 p.m., on Friday, September 07, 2012. The deceased has yet to be positively identified.
North Division patrol officers responded to the NorthPark Business Park in regards to a call for service involving a male subject who had been shot. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased shortly after their arrival. As soon as the responding officers arrived, they detained a male subject who at this time is believed to be the shooter. This incident is not a random act of violence. Although the investigation is in its early stages, indications at this time point to this incident as domestic violence related. Three people, including the male believed to be the shooter, were transported to CMPD headquarters to be interviewed.
The investigation is in its early stages, as additional information develops, it will be released by CMPD Public Affairs.
