At about 9:05am, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person breaking cars in the area of 89 Waldeck Street in Dorchester. While en route to the call, officers learned that a black male wearing a bright orange jacket was seen breaking into cars and was last seen running towards the Fields Corner MBTA station. On arrival, officers were met by several witnesses who, while pointing in the direction of the Fields Corner MBTA station, stated, “He went that way!!!”
Upon entering the train station, officers were able to locate a black male who matched the description of the suspect. Officers promptly noted that the suspect was breathing heavily. After the suspect was positively identified, officers took the suspect into custody. According to witnesses, the suspect, while wearing a bright orange jacket, was seen breaking into a car and rummaging around inside the car. When confronted by witnesses, the suspect stated, “Someone gave me the car,” and then fled the area. A search of the suspect’s bag enabled officers to locate an orange jacket, a laptop computer, a computer cord and mouse.
