Refusing to Leave a Local Pub Lands One Behind Bars for Evening
At about 2:00am, on Saturday, April 28, 2012, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) were on patrol in the area of 1310 Dorchester Avenue monitoring the release of the patrons from Peggy O’Neil’s Pub.
While at that location, officers were requested to remove a patron of the establishment by an employee who was refusing to leave. Officers escorted the suspect out of the establishments. The suspect refused to leave the area and became verbally abusive towards officers.
Officers requested and ordered suspect to leave the area numerous times with suspect’s refusing to leave. Officers informed the suspect if he did not leave the area, he would be subject to arrest. Officers observed the suspect continue to display disorderly behavior and caused passersby and patrons to take notice of suspect’s disruptive behavior.
The suspect refused to comply with the officers’ request and was placed under arrest. Officers attempted to place suspect under arrest and the suspect refused to place his hands behind his back. Officers used minimal force to place suspect into handcuffs and brought the suspect to the police wagon. The suspect stated the arrest was a, “Joke” and made derogatory remarks towards officers.
The male suspect, Richard Mace, 24, of Brockton, was arrested for Disorderly Person and Resisting Arrest.
