For the second time this week, a man has been shot in Wilmington during an apparent armed robbery attempt.
The second man, whose shooting was reported at 12:42 a.m. Thursday, was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital and admitted in critical condition, Wilmington Police Department spokesman Cpl. Mark Ivey said.
He was shot repeatedly, Ivey said.
The man hurt about 27 hours earlier – who told police he was shot as he ran away from an armed robber – was described as stable when admitted to the same hospital with a single gunshot wound.
City police are not linking the two crimes.
Officers responding to 911 calls Thursday found the injured man on the street in the 1200 block of Lancaster Ave., Ivey said.
The victim was described as a 37-year-old who lives in the 1100 block of E. 11th St.
Based on preliminary investigation, Ivey said, it appeared that he was leaving the Safari Lounge in the 100 block of N. Franklin St., when a man tried to rob him.
